The Monster Mix-Up

February 5, 2009

Attention, all sci-fi fans. I come to you this week with a compelling argument that George Lucas is just a bit more evil than most people realize. No, I don’t mean the utter ridiculousness of the Gungan Stepin Fetchit that is Jar-Jar Binks. Much more subtle than that. Completely insidious. I refer of course to C-3PO and his trash can-sized sidekick, R2-D2, and the fact that they’re really just a Cyberman and a Dalek in disguise.

If you follow these two links, you’ll see that I’m not the only one who’s noticed, either. C-3PO and Cybermen are both tall, metal, and humanoid shaped. R2-D2 and Daleks are both rather round, with domed heads that swivel and a single eyestalk. Sure, R2-D2 is almost half the size of a Dalek, but that’s to make him seem less threatening and more appealing. It’s almost like George Lucas is Davros’ PR man. “Of course they don’t want to delete or exterminate you. Look, see? Even Princess Leia trusts them.”

Let us not forget that Anakin Skywalker built C-3PO, and we all know that Anakin turned into Darth Vader in the end. From evil can only come evil.

Just look at this mash-up and tell me there’s not a connection. To quote Fox Mulder, “The truth is out there.” It doesn’t take a Time Lord or a Jedi to see it.

EXTRA! The monsters of Doctor Who have not limited themselves to Star Wars. In a heinous attempt to make children complacent about the possibility of humanity’s defeat, the Sontarans are being depicted as cuddly Boobahs. Where will the madness end?
